Tench cannot be mistaken for any other European cyprinid.
 the scales are tiny, 95-100 in the lateral line, often glinting with a golden
 flash like sequins. The general ground color is a shade of olive or forest-
 green, becoming more yellow on the belly.
 Tench of less than a pound are unusual to catch the usual taken by anglers
 being from1 to 4 pounds. Anything over 5 pounds is a good fish, and 
 over 6-7 pounds, noteworthy.
